Have I Saved the Best for Last?

Two weeks ago, I told you that there were 7 Digital Marketing Must-Do's, and I split them up, offering 3 each for the past two weeks. I've saved one for last, as it is a lengthier topic with a little steeper learning curve for most.

Did I save the best for last?  That all depends on you.

7.  AI

Everyone is talking about it -- Artificial Intelligence.  Is there a place for AI in your digital marketing strategy?  The answer should be "yes," but you have to be willing to stretch and grow.

In 2014, I was quoted at Quilt Market, saying "Every quilt shop should have a digital marketing strategy.  If you don't, you are likely closed, but just don't know it yet."  This angered many shop owners.  Flash forward to the COVID years, and we saw many suffer/close because they were not able to market or sell online.

Don't be scared.  We've been using AI for a long time.  Each time you ask Siri or Google to give you directions, or find a restaurant, send a message, place a call, or look something up, you are using artificial intelligence.  Have you used a chat bot?  AI!  Marketing automation and artificial intelligence

  • Frees up time

  • Takes care of boring and repetitive tasks

  • Produces a better result, faster and easier

What's not to love about that?

Marketing Automation uses AI.  Whether you are using a marketing platform, like High Level, or an email platform, like Active Campaign, marketing automation tools can help you turn cold traffic into leads, turn leads into customers, and does it all on auto-pilot.  You think through the marketing funnel and let AI do the rest.

Predictive Software programs exist to help choose identify title-thumbnail combinations for YouTube videos or write higher converting titles and headlines.

ChatGPT can write blog articles, generate business ideas, write email content, write social media content, and suggest ad content.

Just Give It a Try

It's scary, I know.  Just give it a try.

Go to chatopenai.com and register.  Then give it a whirl.

Remember ChatGPT is a robot.  The quality of your answers will only be as good as the quality of your prompt.  ChatGPT is great for generating text copy, but not so great at generating images.  You may want to try OpenAI's sister AI program, DALL-E 2 for images.

Prompt Basics

Start with a basic prompt - you fill in the blanks.

Write [some kind of text], that is [style and tone], featuring [characteristics].

So you might ask ChatGPT to write a short product description that is funny and light, featuring Tula Pink's Besties fabric line.

And this is what I got...

Tula Pink's Besties Fabric Line is like having a party in your craft room! These fun, fresh prints will have your projects laughing all the way to the fabric store. With tumbleweeds, gems, and thorny roses, you'll never run out of ideas for your next quilt. Whether it's a special project or just something to brighten up your day, you'll be sure to find something in the Besties collection that will be a perfect fit.

Not bad...  I have a few edits to make, but coming up with something similar would have taken more than the 25 seconds involved here.

And you know what else?  I can ask ChatGPT to expand on the fabric description and generate social media content, email content, and web content.

Now, do you like AI?????

Did I Save the Best for Last?????

I think so -- and if you want to save time, save money, and build your business without hiring additional marketing specialist, I think you'll think so, too.

(Certainly, if I had asked ChatGPT to write that sentence, it would not have been so awkward...)

Don't forget -- you REALLY can do this.
