3 MORE DIGITAL MARKETING MUST-DO'S

If you caught my post from last week, you know that all marketing strategies are NOT created equal.  But there are 7 digital marketing must do's that will boost your digital marketing results.

I covered 3 strategies last week: Storytelling, Tick-Click-Stick, and Psychological Hot Buttons.  If you missed the email, you can see it here:

Today, I'll describe three more digital marketing must-do's.

4.  Data Analysis

Your data tells your story. With each social media post, blog, email, and web update, you are accruing copious amounts of data about your business, products and services, as well as data about your customer demographic, interests and buying habits.

If you are not tracking this data, you missing out on a valuable marketing tool and uber-valuable business insight.  Whether you are a numbers person, who enjoys looking at mind-numbing spreadsheet, or you are a visual person, who appreciates a well-developed chart or graphic, analyzing data can lead to strategic decision-making and SMART marketing goals.

If you want to analyze data, but don't know where to start -- consider signing up for my Facebook Success Formula coaching class.  I thoroughly cover data sources and storage, with multiple sample spreadsheets and extraction techniques.

When you see that your audience data is aging, and mono-gender, you realize that your business has an impending mortality date (see below).

But when you use that data to drive your digital marketing strategy, you can gain new customers and seek new audiences in a relatively short period of time (1 year).  Now that mortality date is pushed back a decade or two (see below).

5. Social Monitoring

It may seem like spying, but it's perfectly legit.  Monitoring your competition (as well as hero businesses that you follow) can impact your marketing strategy.

You can find out what your competitors are up to.  Sign up for marketing emails, check out posts on social media, take a look at their digital ad campaigns, and scope out their website.

Let's start with the website.  From their home page, you can quickly identify their value products and services, look for call-to-action buttons, and review words and language used.  Scroll to the bottom of the page (or check at the top), and you should see icons for all of their social media links.

Visit the social media profiles to review content, engagement and responses -- see how they compare to your media.  And, if you want to know what they are advertising, and when, simply go to their Facebook page to discover their advertising history.

Simply go to your competitor's Facebook page, click on About, click on Page Transparency, look at the Ads section to see if they are currently running ads (it will say if they ARE or ARE NOT currently running ads), click See All, and then click Go to Ad Library.  Ka-boom!  You are scrolling through your competitor's campaigns.

Is this creepy?  No, it's sound business practice!

6. Break Down Posting

If all this marketing talk hasn't given you a breakdown, then you are ready for the frosting on the cupcake -- the art of Break Down Posting.

Let's say you recently shot video during a 1-hour online class.  You promised to make the video available to participants.  But did you ever think that you are sitting on a goldmine?

If you break the video down into it's individual components, you may find several individual posts within.

  • Break down audio into text to frame up a blog post

  • Use clips for Reels or Shorts

  • Use audio clips for a podcast

The purpose of break down posting is to take long content (emails, video, blogs) and turn it into several smaller posts.

But don't stop there.  You can take the smaller posts and break them down even more. One long video might be posted as 4-5 Reels.  These Reels might be re-posted as TikToks or Shorts.  Ultimately, you could end up with as many as 10-15 pieces, including Tweets and Stories.

These strategies WORK -- but you have to make it work for you.  Just pick one and get started!
