HAVE YOU LOOKED AT YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE RECENTLY???

I mean, really looked a the page -- the way your viewers see it.  Well, if you haven't looked recently, you may be in for a surprise.

When Meta (Facebook) changed to the new pages experience, they provided clickable online tutorials to help you navigate the new page experience.  But they forgot to tell you that they made several other changes to the page that changes what your followers see (and don't see).

The first change that significantly impacts most pages is the reduction of characters in the INFO (previously ABOUT) section. This section is now limited to approximately 100 characters.  How did Facebook make the transitio to the New Pages experience?  They simply TRUNCATED the information in your ABOUT section.  And, unless you checked your page, you don't know that you are leaving your viewers hanging, like these two examples below...

CHECK YOURSELF

In the New Pages experience, it is easy to view your page as others view it.

Just below your cover photo, on the right side of the page, just below the edit button, click on the 3-dot elipsis (...).  Scroll down and select "View As."

You will now be viewing your page as your followers and visitors see it.  Scroll through your page, taking note of changes that need to be made.

Look at your Intro.  Is it truncated like the examples above?  Once you've made your list of edits, exit the "View As" page.

In the upper, right-hand corner, just below your profile image, click on the button to "Exit View As."  You will return to your business page, and can begin your updates.

EDIT YOUR INTRO

Just below your Intro, in the left column of your page, you will see the "Edit bio" button.  Click the button and edit your Intro copy.  Facebook will tell you how many characters remain as you type.

CONTINUE YOUR UPDATES

Refer to the list of updates that you made.  Be sure to look through your business address, contact information, hours of operation and links to make certain that all information is up-to-date.

SCHEDULE YOUR NEXT REVIEW

I recommend reviewing your page once a month to make sure you do not have a lingering "pinned" post, feature article or call-to-action that is out of date.

Regular review is a good habit to get into, and will assure that you are not caught unaware when Meta chooses to revise the business page experiece.
