It's Tipsy Tuesday!

The silent social media killer...

Inactivity.  It's the silent social media killer.

It's easy to set up profiles on all the social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and more.  Keeping up is the hard part.

When profiles/accounts go dormant, they can damage your credibility and reputation.  You can lose followers.  But more importantly, dormant profiles/account can negatively impact your reach and your brand loses its market share.

Cut the dead weight

If you've determined that you no longer want or need the account, cut it loose.  Deactivate or close the dormant or inactive account.  Assess which accounts and profiles you can and will maintain.  Consider which platforms are most active for quilters and focus on those.

Make sure you communicate with your followers that you will be phasing out the platform and provide a link to the channel you would like them to move to.

Up your game

Once you've determined the channels that will yield the best return on effort, it's time to revamp and rejuvenate with fresh energy and a strategy.

Commit to a regular posting strategy:

  • Facebook, post daily, up to 5 times per day, add 1 story per day to increase reach

  • Instagram, post daily to feed, add 2 stories per day to increase reach

  • YouTube, post 4--6 times per week

  • Pinterest, publish pins 1-4 times daily, 4-10 times to grow

  • Twitter, post daily

  • Linked In, post 4-6 times per week

  • TikTok, post 4-6 times per week

Let's get real

As a business owner, you don't have time to sit on social media all day, keeping up with multiple accounts.

It's better to choose 1-2 accounts to focus your efforts on than to try to maintain 5 accounts that you can't keep up with.

Once you've selected the platforms that will generate the best results and customer advantages for your business, establish clear posting, responding and monitoring goals.  Then put the plan into action.

Social media marketing is all about the return on effort, and zero effort nets zero results.
