The Rule of 3

Here's an easy one for you as we head into the holidays.  It's the Rule of Three.

A marketing study developed in the late 70's indicated that a message is most persuasive when repeated three times.  Not 1. Not 5.  Not 10.  THREE.

That research has been confirmed in more recent years.  It's just as true today, and we should be mindful of the implications.

If we want our customers to take action, we need to deliver the message THREE times and in THREE different ways.

Think about it.  When quilters see your first post, they usually are on their phones.  They might "like" the post, but soon, it has dropped lower in their newsfeed, and they've forgotten about it.

The next time they see the message, they remember they liked it the first time, and they take a little more time to review the message.  They might even comment on the message.

The third time they see the message, their memory is re-activated, and they are more ready to buy (or register) -- especially if the message is delivered with a sense of urgency.

THREE distinctly different messages EVERY time???

NO WAY -- who has time for that???

But, if you are posting to sell a product, or register for a class, or sign up for block of the month (or any other similarly important post), consider three distinctly different messages.

Message #1 - Introductory message
Message #2 - More information
Message #3 - Full information with a sense of urgency (time sensitive or limited space)
