HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR BANNER LATELY??

You did it!  You purposefully changed your Facebook banner image.   But have you checked it to see what others see?  I check once a month, or as often as I change my banner.  Here's what I found...

OOPS.  I didn't realize when I edited the image that the Title would fall behind my business business profile image on the desktop.  And what does it do on mobile?

Uh-oh...  The Title is completely obscured by mt profile image.  This is BAD.  I definitely had some editing to do.

I moved the Title block, added some background, and it looks fine on desktop.  But how about mobile??

BETTER, but not good enough.  The Title block is cut off on mobile feed.  Back to the editing app...

The third time is the charm, and the mobile feed finally looks good.

VIEW YOUR PAGE AS A CUSTOMER

It's really easy.  If you want to view your page as a customer sees it, simply click the 3-dot elipsis below the EDIT on the right-side of your business page.  Click VIEW AS.

To finish viewing as a customer, click on "EXIT VIEW AS" in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

BANNER (COVER) IMAGE SIZE

The optimal size for your Facebook Banner Image is 851 pixels x315 pixels.  You can get by with as small of an image as 400px x 150px, but the image may be a bit blurry on desktop.  Go big whenever you can.

CLEAR THAT POST??

Facebook automatically creates a post in your timeline to notify your followers that you have changed your banner image.  In some cases, the changed image speaks for itself and you will want to let the automated post stand.

  • Store Name

  • Store Details

  • Event Announcement

  • Upcoming Announcement

But if your new banner image promotes a line of fabrics, a pattern or a notion, you may want to delete the automated post and create a post of your own that details the promotion, including links that drive traffic to your website.
