IMAGE, CONTENT, LINK, POST... REPEAT |
Coming up with creative new ways to capture audience interest can be a challenge. Sometimes, we can work our way into boring posting plans that look the same from day to day, week to week. Image, content, link, post. Image, content, link, post. Image, content, link, post. Want to break out of the monotony? Well, here are 20 post ideas to spice up your posting calendar and reach a greater audience.

|
TWENTY POST IDEAS |
In no particular order, consider these 20 post ideas to bring variety to your posting calendar and reach out to a broader audience.
1. Blog Posts
Consider starting a weekly or bi-weekly blog that you can link to on social media.
|
|
2. Events
Don't forget to promote those events. Each event should result in (at least) 4 posts: Event announcement, preview, reminder, post-event.
3. Company News
Sharing company news makes your brand PERSONAL and helps to build relationships with your audience.
4. Company Culture
You work hard to develop a unique company culture. Share it with your audience. Do you celebrate staff birthdays? Do you play pranks on each other? Share it.
5. Industry Data
Don't wait for Market to share industry data. Sharing industry data builds your credibility, and can provide your audience with a better perspective of the unique challenges that you face daily. When you learn that shipping prices or fabric prices are predicted to go up, don't be afraid to share with your customers.
6. Product Photos
We're all pretty comfortable with posting images of new products, but what about the existing products??? Don't forget to post images of all aspects of your shop or business.
7. Product Videos
Once again, stretch beyond new product videos. Shoot a video with a description of your product of the week, or staff product pick, or hidden gem, or kit contents, or (the list goes on and on).
8. Live Videos
ACTION! Go live with product review, product descriptions, event previews, class suggestions, pattern explanations, group organizers, celebrations, and of course product sales. The quickest and easiest way to capture your audience is to go live.

9. Questions
Should I use the green border or blue border fabric? Should we have show and tell on Friday or Saturday? What is your favorite pattern designer. What is your favorite class you've taken at (XX) shop? When you ask questions, you encourage reactions and responses which will boost your social media algorithm.
10. Graphics
Report your shop hop data with a quick graphic -- number of visitors, and where they came from. Consider a monthly graphic for the top 5 selling products. Report survey results with a graphic. When quilters see graphics, they immediately consider where they fit into the graphic, which promotes a connection to your business.
11. Job Listings
Let the world know when you are hiring. Someone knows someone who wants to work for you. And once you hire, don't forget to post about your new employee (see Company News, above).
12. Contests
Appeal to your audience's desire for competition. Host a contest and promote it on social media. This is a great way to get organic social shares.
13. Testimonials
Whether you've been in business a short time or a long time, spread the good word about your business through customer testimonials. Don't be afraid to toot your own horn.
14. Partner Promotions
If you're a machine dealer, you've likely shared partner promotions many times, but don't forget other partner promotions, such as fabric and notions promos, pattern promotions, shop hops, and quilt shows.

15. Quotes
Inspirational or humorous. Your quilters will love to share your quotes -- another great way to spark organic growth.
16. Tips & Tricks
Quilters are always looking for tips and tricks to make their lives easier. Create a short video, and park it on your website. Use social media to link to the tip, drawing more traffic to your website.
17. Customer Profiles
Celebrate your valued customers and their accomplishments.
18. GIF's and Memes
Quilters love to share -- give them something to share!
19. Give Aways
Your quilters love the chance to get something for nothing. Make sure that your give away posts leads your audience to a landing page on your website and provides you with the opportunity to capture audience information. (you've got to get something out of the deal)
20. User Generated Content
When your customer provides you with an image of his/her completed quilt, don't forget to ask for permission to post it. Here's another idea: combine contests with user generated content and ask your customers to send images of themselves wearing your shop t-shirt while they are traveling. |

NOTHING TO LOSE, EVERYTHING TO GAIN... |
As you read through the list, I'm sure many of you said "oh yeah, I can do that." It might be that you've simply forgotten about many of these post ideas.
Imagine if you build out your posting calendar with this level of variety. Many of these posting ideas will result in multiple shares, which will result in new followers and new customers.
What have you got to lose?
